There is so much going on, a lot of times, events have come and gone before I can get you updated here. I’m really trying to get better. Thanks to so many of you who made the trip to Ft. Worth to see Circle Theatre’s ‘Rasheeda Speaking’ and Casa Manana’s ‘Rock of Ages’. Watch out Dallas. I’m really beginning to love Ft. Worth! 🙂 Also, so excited that Community Conversation has started in Ft. Worth. Thanks again to Circle Theatre for getting the ball rolling and being our first Ft. Worth host. We will be back at Circle Theatre on Wednesday, July 12th. Mark your calendars and plan to join us. I also want send a shout out to the theaters who have invited Change the Perception to conduct our Community Conversations following their productions. Second Thought Theater following ‘Straight White Men’ by Young Jean Lee and, most recently, Kitchen Dog Theater following their production of ‘Br’er Cotton’ by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm (which you still have time to see) I so appreciate your support and collaborative spirit!! And a VERY special shout out to Robyn Flatt and the Dallas Children’s Theater who was the first to open their doors and give us a home. Without that happening, I doubt any of this would have been possible. THANK YOU ALL!!
As I stated on the Echo Theatre event, I am so honored to have been asked to serve on their Board of Directors. Echo Theatre celebrates 20 Years of producing plays written by women for everyone! We have taken on some ambitious projects this year and I hope you will come out to support our efforts to continue bringing your quality theater. Our season, which we ‘officially’ announce at the Summer Gala THIS SATURDAY, June 24th at the Bath House Cultural promises to be one of our finest. I also have the honor of performing for this year’s gala. So join us Saturday Night and show your support. Tickets and more information can be found by clicking HERE.
I will continue to post Community Conversation on this site, but please know that Change the Perception has a new site all it’s own. Our next one is Monday, June 26th at the Dallas Children’s Theatre. In addition to Community Conversation, Change the Perception will continue to grow and bring new events to help bridge the gaps in our communities. You can always check that website for up-to-date info as well by clicking HERE
And, finally, THE 2ND ANNUAL DALLAS CABARET FESTIVAL IS COMING! I’m putting the finishing touches on contracts and talking to artists and we’ll have the FULL announcement by next week!! The Festival will again, be at the Women’s Building at Fair Park on July 27, 28 and 29! You don’t want to miss it. I also want to thank Fair Park and the City of Dallas for all they have done to make this Cabaret Series and Festival a success!!
Well that’s all for now but stay tuned. New stuff is just around the corner!!
much love,
denise
